Unless you live under a rock, you know exactly the ad I’m referring to. Just in case, here it is.
So, now that you watched that about 1000 times, what do you think?
I was honestly left a bit breathless.
How it started
Let me backtrack for a sec and share that up until January 5th of this year (the day Bad Bunny’s latest album came out), I was not a Bad Bunny fan. I mean, I knew who he was but I was not in his target market and I wasn’t really feeling the music. So he and his music were not on my radar.
Then came DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS and seriously, the game changed. His target market went from young partygoers to pretty much everyone, everywhere.
I’ve seen viral posts of billboards featuring the ad all over the world. Want to see what those billboards look like? Check out Exhibit A (London).

And Exhibit B (NYC’s Soho neighborhood).
How it’s going
So yeah, the ad is pretty bomb. Plus the album is pretty fire.
How do I know? Because I listen to it on repeat every day. EVERY. DAY. It’s that good and that relatable. Because I’m Puerto Rican too and this album was most definitely written with Boricuas in mind. It’s a celebration of our culture, our island, and the resilience of our people.
I think the best part of the album is that no one saw it coming. You can ask any Boricua over a certain age and they will confirm they never had “loving Bad Bunny’s new album” on their bingo card. But he put in the work, came correct, and birthed this beautiful celebration of our tiny island and rich, vibrant culture and now we can’t get enough of him.
Make sure you check this out
When he dropped the album, he also dropped a short. The film is all about cultural displacement and it’s worth a watch because it will help you understand what it feels like to have colonizers come through and slowly eliminate the things that make your island so special. He actually sings a whole song about how we don’t want what happened to Hawaii to happen to us. The song’s lyrics are profound and will leave you thinking about how our actions have consequences and sometimes we don’t realize the full impact until it’s too late. The song serves as both a warning and a call to action, urging us to learn from history and protect what we have before it’s lost.
In conclusion
Bad Bunny is my man and I’m here for all of the success he’s having and will continue to have. I love that he’s talented and thoughtful and just plain awesome. I love seeing a fellow Boricua traveling the world and spreading the unique flavor of our island everywhere they go. It makes me so proud and orgullosa.
What about my book?
My author journey continues.
I met with the cover illustrator earlier today and will have updated sketches to review sometime next week.
I’m getting together with my copy editor this Friday.
I’ve already asked and received some positive responses to my requests for endorsements.
I booked the photo session for my author photos for late April.
I recently got an official project plan from my publisher and it's giving me so much clarity on what's ahead and what I can tackle early.
On a non-related note, I just got word that I’ll be receiving an award next month! Can’t share the details just yet, but it’s a huge honor, and I’m beyond excited!
My health challenges continue but I’m pushing through. I’ve identified two more volunteer positions that I will be stepping down from in the near term. In my head I’ve already stepped down if that gives you any indication of how much I have going on and how much I desperately need to create more space for rest and restoration.
Signing off with a reminder to take care of yourselves, make space in your life wherever you can, and, of course, listen to and watch more Bad Bunny!
Kudos on the award Hady and you can definitely be proud.
I'll make sure to give his album a listen.
LOVED THIS !!
